Kali Linux VBoxLinuxAdditions install

Go to your browser :-

  • Search in google for (kali linux repository)
  • Click on the Kali.org  Link
  • or
  • Click this link: https://docs.kali.org/general-use/kali-linux-sources-list-repositories
  • Scroll down and copy The Kali Rolling Repository it should look something like this

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
# For source package access, uncomment the following line
# deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

Go to the terminal and type the following:-

  • cd /etc/apt/ PRESS ENTER
  • leafpad sources.list
  • Remove everything that is in the file and paste. The Kali Rolling Repository and remove last hash tag

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free
# For source package access, uncomment the following line
deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free

  • Save the sources.list file and close

Go to devices:-

  • Insert Guest additions cd image. After you press it and it pops up press cancel.
  • OPEN files THEN other locations THEN open the image cd VBoxAdditions
  • Copy everything that is in the folder
  • Create a newfolder on your Desktop and paste the stuff you copied

Go to the terminal and type the following:-

  • apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y
  • This will take some time to install
  • Reboot when done

Go to the terminal and type the following:-

  • uname -a (This is to see the Kali Version that you are running)
  • apt-get install dist-update -y
  • This will take some time to install
  • Reboot when done
  • uname -a (This is to see if the Kali Version that you are running has changed)

Go to the terminal and type the following:-

  • cd /Desktop/newfolder/
  • sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run  PRESS ENTER (You can type: ls ENTER and copy VBoxLinuxAdditions.run if you don’t want to type it)
  • It should say header not found
  • Type the command below to find the Linux-Header
  • apt-cache search linux-headers PRESS ENTER
  • Copy the linux-header it should look like (linux-headers-4.14.0-kalil-all)
  • THEN TYPE
  • apt-get install paste the linux-header PRESS ENTER
  • THEN TYPE
  • sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run PRESS ENTER
  • THEN TYPE
  • apt-cache search linux-image
  • Copy the linux-image it should look like (linux-image-4.14.0-kali4-amd64 or 686-)
  • THEN TYPE
  • apt-get install paste the linux-image PRESS ENTER
  • Reboot when it is done

Go to the terminal and type the following:-

  • cd /Desktop/newfolder/
  • sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run PRESS ENTER
  • Reboot when DONE
